![]() ![]() In the track you want to reamp set the output to "Digital Out L". In the Pro Tools Eleven Rack Window under user settings set the digital outputs to be "DAW" (that enables the DAW to talk to the "Digital Out L/R I/O devices)". On the Axe-FX set the Input to be “SPDIF/AES" and the Output (Output1 or Output2 depending on what your Axe rig/matrix is doing) to be digital out. See if you can get this to work.Ĭonnect the appropriate AES/EBU (or S/PDIF) digital-in on the Axe-FX to corresponding digital out on the Eleven Rack and digital-out on the Axe-FX to corresponding digital in on the Eleven Rack. If you really want to do this I would try to reamp this digitally. you have an already digital signal and digital devices here. If you do want to work in stereo you could get it OK in mono first then change things to exclude the backing tracks and record both L & R out in stereo.Īnother option is to try use the Axe-FX II as an interface with aggregate I/O (not sure if you are on a Mac or PC) and aggregate the Mac built in audio out to drive monitors or headphones. Then set up a matrix where an amp block is for example running from the right (or left) channel which is receiving the re-amp input from Pro Tools and in parallel you have a straight through path and both paths meet at a mixer block, the mixer takes only the left (or right) channel from the straight through path and puts it all on the left (or right) channel and takes the right hand (or combined) channel from the amp and puts it all on the right channel output. ![]() Set up the re-amp out to the Axe-FX on one channel and blend all the other backing tracks etc. If you are only recording the reamped signal back in mono then I would hope it was possible do the following (which is still messy and I'd want to hear how it sounds of course-I don't have an Axe-FX II to play with): I'll throw out this suggestion, which may or may not help, but here goes. Yep only having a x2 output over USB seems an unfortunate limit. Not very ideal in a reamping situation as I would like to hear the tone in relation to the overall mix. ALL audio is routed through whatever amp/effects you have dialed in. In addition, with the Axe II it is not possible to monitor other tracks while reamping. Not very ideal in a reamping situation as I would like to hear the tone in relation to the overall mix.įorget the Axe for a minute.how would I route this sending a dry signal out to a regular old fashioned tube amp with a miced cab? There is a you tube vid from Avid but they are just using an external cab with processing from the 11R. ![]() Asked for help over on the Fractal board but still haven't gotten it to work. I've had some problems reamping using the Axe II as my interface in PT (no trouble when using Reaper however). If you gave to drive the Axe-FX from the Eleven Rack I would at least try doing so digitally via S/PDIF or AES/EBU.Īs I mentioned, I prefer the 11R as an interface (especially in relation to Pro Tools). Would certainly seem easier to do that and it would have less opportunity for adding noise, hum and unnecessary A/D and D/A steps. Why are you trying to do this? Do you need the Eleven Rack at all? The Axe-fx II is quite capable of being as an interface for Pro Tools 9 and quite capable of you reamping from Pro Tools direct to the Axe-Fx. Again, I just want to send the already recorded dry track out through the Axe Fx and back to a new track in PT. I'm also not sure how to set the Output to Amps Selector. I assumed "Reamp" but not sure if that's right. However, I'm not sure what to set the Input Selector to in the Eleven Rack Control Window. Output 1 (L/R) of Axe Fx -> Line Input (L/R) on back of 11R Output to Amp 1 (L) of 11R -> Front input of Axe Fx This is what I've tried so far (giving me no signal to the Axe Fx): What is the best way to connect the two and how would I route it in PT in order to accomplish this? I would like to continue to use the 11R as my main interface since it integrates so nicely with PT and just reamp through the Axe Fx. For the record, I am using Pro Tools 9 on an iMac OS X 10.6.8. I read the manual and still having some trouble. I think I've mastered the art of reamping directly within the Eleven Rack itself, but I'm struggling with sending the dry signal out to an external amp/processor. Forgive me in advance if this is taboo here, but I recently got an Axe FX II and would like to send a dry signal out of the 11R to the Axe II and record the processed sound on a new track. ![]()
